Speak it! 3 is FINALLY coming! Read more HERE.

Speak it 3 is Coming…Really!

Posted on

As all our loyal and patient Speak it! users know, we have been promising you a new version of Speak it! for over a year now, and development of the updated app was going great for an end of summer release when iOS 8 was introduced. At the time we had to make the hard choice at the end of October that it was no longer feasible to add iOS 7 and 8 support on 5+ year old codebase that was originally released on iOS 2.
We decided that it made more sense for development and our customers user experience to start a complete rewrite of iSpeak 3.0, with a brand new design. We have been hard at work since November and would finally like to show you a sneak peak at what we have been working on.
We hope you guys enjoy whats coming for iSpeak 3.0, and truly appreciated all our loyal customers patience during this time as we wrap up development!
(and yes the Speak it! Store will be back online for iSpeak 3.0 with even more language support AND new fun voices!)

Check out a sneak peak of our current alpha builds!

    • The store has been down for Speak it 2 due to major changes in the back end that needed to be made. Since these changes were too much for Speak it 2 we have decided to hold the release until Speak it 3 is out, which will be in the coming weeks. Stay tuned!

  1. We are trying to install another voice for Speak-it (Max-Dutch). We get the message “Failed to contact server”. We don’t think the problem is related to our network. Can you please check if something is wrong on your site??

    Thanks in advance.

  2. What about the issues with Distance Pro??? Have you read your reviews. The app could be great with a few fixes including making it work with the newest iOS. Update that one please!!

Hi. My friend has been using Speak It 2 for a long time. She has motor neuron disease and is coming to the final stages.
She uses a blue tooth keyboard with her ipad as she can put the keyboard on her lap. However whenever she has completed a sentence she has to lean forward and press the “Speak It” button.
Because she no longer has great control of her hand movement sometimes she touches the screen poorly and the floating tool bar drops to the bottom of the screen causing her to chase the “Speak It” Button down the screen

So my question is – Is there a short cut key or sequence she can press to save her lifting her arms to press the “Speak It” button.

If not in version 2, will it be built in to version 3?

Perhaps an F key would do. Eg. to start a Powerpoint display the shortcut key is F5.
Perhaps in Version 3 the operator could press F5 to Speak It.

    Hope you can help

    regards
    Judy

When will Speak it 3 be available?

I love Speak it 2 very much but it doesn’t work properly after I updated my iPod touch to iOS 8.3. Specifically, I can’t change Text Font Size, Voice Volume, or Voice Speed. any longer.

    • We have just wrapped up the core development and are going into beta this week while we wrap things up and make sure its ready for the App Store! If you want to be part of the beta test check out the latest new post.

    • Speak it! is self contained and requires no internet connection. We have such high quality voices because of this reason.
